Tortoise Ring

Tortoise Ring

A tortoise ring or turtle ring is a glossy and attractive ornament that is mostly made from metals. It is also known as the Kachua ring and Meru ring. The ornament appears to be in the form of a tortoise figure fixed to the top of a ring.

There are various myths associated with the tortoise ring. In Hindu mythology, Lord Vishnu reincarnated in the form of a tortoise. As the animal helped in stabilising mount Mandara, the tortoise has become a symbol of stability. Tortoise is also an important element in Vedic astrology and Feng shui.

The ring is usually made from gold, silver or platinum and embedded with precious gemstones. We can also find these rings without any gemstones or other similar objects attached to them.

The tortoise figure fixed on the rings comes in various forms such as metal tortoise, wooden tortoise, glass tortoise, crystal tortoise etc. The rings also come in a wide range of styles and designs. The most popular among them are:

Tortoise diamond rings: They have single or multiple diamonds fixed to the shell of the tortoise. Gold is the most commonly used metal for fabricating diamond turtle rings.

Tortoise gemstone rings: As the name suggests, these rings come with various gemstones attached to them. Gemstones such as rhinestones, quartz, amethyst, red garnet peridot etc. are the commonly used gemstones.

Tortoise navaratna rings: The navaratna turtle rings have all of the navratnas, i.e. the nine precious gemstones attached to them. The ring is usually made from metals like sterling silver, silver and gold.

Custom designs: These designs include various DIY and vintage models of turtle rings that are popular in the market. Apart from the gold and silver designs, these custom designs have also become a trend among the wearers.
