There are many types of Kashmiri Earrings. The type of earrings women wear is different according to their age and marital status. Bala: It is studded with turquoise gemstones attached to a fringe of hanging gold leaves and balls.

Alcahor or Alka-hor: It is a style of earrings, which rests over either ear and is connected by a chain running over the head.

Deji-hoor or Deji-hor: These kinds of earrings symbolize the marital status of the women and therefore, it is only worn by the married women in Kashmir. This type consists of a gold chain or a silk thread that passes through the holes pierced at the ear lobes' top end.

Atta Hor: Married Kashmiri Pandit women only wear these kinds of earrings. This type also hangs over the ears and is connected by a gold chain running over the head.
