Ladies Necklace

Necklaces are made of metals and precious stones and are often worn for various ceremonies. A typical necklace contains a band, a chain and a cord that wraps around the neck.

There are different types of necklaces available.

• Opera Necklace : It has a length of 26 to 36 inches and can be worn in a single strand or in the form of a double layered choker.
• Multi layered coloured string necklace : It has a medley of colours and can be worn with all kinds of outfits.
• Thread Necklace : It has a length of 14 to 20 inches and is made of colourful threads tied in knots, giving it a beautiful look with oxidised pendants. It goes well with sarees, kurtis etc.
• Bib Necklace : As the name suggests, it looks like a bib. It’s a gorgeous piece of jewellery and can be worn with deep neck blouses, kurtis, tops etc. The necklace by itself imparts a rich look, hence we ought to keep the rest of the outfits simple.
• Choker : a choker is worn close to the neck and is 14-16 inches long. A choker suits all kinds of outfits.
• Collar Necklace : It is known as a crewneck, and is usually 12 to 13 inches long. It is usually made of 3 or more strands of pearls or kundan stones, and it encircles the neck around the collar area. It is ideal for outfits with a V- neck, turtle neck or boat neck etc.
• Princess Necklace : It is the most common type of necklace. It is 17 to 19 inches long and is made in heavy as well as light designs. It goes well with sarees, kurtis etc. and its heavier designs suit weddings or special occasions.
• Matinee Necklace : It is a plunging necklace that is around 20 to 22 inches long usually embellished with stones or beads.
• Plastron Necklace : They are heavy necklaces that give a rich extravagant look, usually embellished with glass. They suit simpler outfits.
• Chain Necklaces : Chain necklaces are of different lengths and sizes. They can be single or double stranded.
• Graduated Necklace : It is a single stranded necklace usually made of beads.
• Lariat Necklace : It is a scarf-like a neckpiece that wraps around the neck with one strand hanging down the other. Also called lasso necklace, it usually has a Y-shape with a pendant at the bottom.
• Tassel Necklace : A Tassel necklace gives a bold statement and is made in various metals like gold, silver etc. The tassel strings are made of silver, feather, basic strings or even embroidery threads. It can be worn for both formal and casual occasions.
• Torque Necklace : The Torque necklace is spherical, and suits formal outfits. It is of contemporary style.

The earliest necklaces were made of shells, teeth and bone beads. Ethnic necklaces made of coral stones later became popular, which women usually wear on special occasions like marriage.
