Gold Beads
Beads made of varied materials, namely glass, stone, metal, gemstones and shells, form an integral part of jewellery making. Popularly made accessories include belts, bracelets, necklaces, earrings and rings. Beads form an important component of beaded jewellery making along with threads, metal wires and clasps.
Gold beads are classified into Gold-Plated/Finished, Gold-Filled, Karat Gold and Rose Gold- Plated/Finished beads. The Gold plated ones have a thin layer of Genuine Gold, electrochemically plated on the base material, which is usually Brass or Copper. Since the Gold coating is thin, it will not increase the weight of the bead and will wear off easily. Even though it displays the same lustre as the Gold-filled ones, the price is only a fraction of the Gold-filled beads.
Gold-filled beads have 5% gold in it, accounting for the bead's subsequent increase in weight. They are made by pressure bonding of a thin layer of Gold, to the Brass metal-core. 5 Strands of 24k Gold Plated Copper Round Beads form the small smooth Gold plated balls.
