Akshaya Tritiya, which is also known as ‘Akti’ or ‘Akha Teej’ is an annual festival during the spring season. Breaking down this word, ‘Akshaya means undying, endless, eternal or an imperishable entity, whereas ‘Tritiya’ stands for the third, meaning the day falls on the third day of Shukla Paksha in Vaishakha. According to the Hindu calendar, it is the annual spring festival and one of the most auspicious occasions for Hindus and Jains of India and Nepal. Every year, the festival date is set according to the lunisolar Hindu calendar and usually falls in April/ May in the Gregorian calendar.
History

Some people believe that Parashuram, an avatar of Lord Vishnu, was born on this day, while some say that Goddess Ganga had arrived on Earth from heaven on this day.
