Emerald stone price

Emerald is the gemstone that finds a place for itself in almost every women’s trousseau due to its striking green colour. The bluish green to the green gem is a variety of beryl which is a mineral species.

The price of this vibrant beauty depends on the 4Cs which are the colour, clarity, cut and carat. The emerald's various tones are due to the amount of chromium, vanadium, and iron found in the surroundings. Usually, emeralds are green, bluish green and yellow toned. The price of each hue differs. A striking green emerald would cost the most, but even a bluish-green stone is highly valuable due to its occurrence in the Muzo mine of Columbia. But the ones which are yellow or blue without a tint of green are less valuable. There are bubbles formed inside the stone due to the trapped air. These imperfections are easily traced with the naked eye or a magnifying lens. Almost 90% of the gemstone contains flaws due to its surroundings which contribute to lowering its value. The inclusions reduced the quality of emerald and made them more opaque which affects the price of the stone.

Normally, the emerald stone is cut in the shape of a rectangular. This type of cut ensures less breakage of the jewellery. A well-defined emerald should be a sight for sore eyes; it should shine and be sparkling. A dull emerald would not attract a reasonable price whereas a sparkling stone is bound to be bought at enormous prices.

Carat is nothing but the weight of the gemstone. The higher is the carat; more will be the price of the emerald.
