Beads are an integral part of the jewellery industry. They can be used in various forms, from simple beaded chains to highly ornate necklaces.

Artisans carefully carve out beads from various materials including wood, glass, stone and even costly metals like gold and silver. They might not always be round in shape. One can find oval, square, tubular and other geometrically shaped beads as well. The main attraction is that they come in various colours, and are hence popular among all the jewellery lovers.

It is believed that bead art dates back to over 5000 years. People used to drill out beads from naturally occurring materials. Wood and stone jewellery were as prominent then as they are today. Animal skin and bones were used to make beads, and they were then tied up together to form an artistic miracle of a neck-piece or a bracelet.
