Since the beginning times, man has had a great fascination for jewellery and gemstones. In the Bhagavata, it is said that the Sun-god himself owned a jewel named 'Syamantaka’himself. Though we all know that jewellery can be expensive, how expensive can it get? When it comes to worth, many factors make jewellery expensive. These factors could range from age, rarity, design and quality. Having considered these, what are some of the most insanely expensive pieces of jewellery in the world? Let’s find out!

A Heritage In Bloom
A Heritage in Bloom is the magnum opus of the Chinese designer Wallace Chan. It features divine colourless diamonds that are carved from the Cullinan Heritage, an exceptionally rare flawless diamond. The 104-carat centrepiece is surrounded by jade, and the design features eye-catching butterflies and bats. This necklace has been inspired by the Chinese culture and took about 47,000 hours to complete. Incredible as it may sound, this unique jewellery can be worn in 27 different ways.

The Pink Star Diamond Ring
The Pink Star Ring features an exquisite centrepiece called the Pink Star Diamond. This diamond is the largest internally flawless ‘fancy vivid pink’ diamond in existence. Initially weighing 132.5 carats, this diamond took 20 months to be cut and was finally unveiled in 2003. It was first known as the Steinmetz Pink and was later named the Pink Star. Since the purchase, the diamond has been renamed as The CTF Pink Star.

The Oppenheimer Blue Diamond Ring
Like the Pink Star, the Oppenheimer Blue Diamond Ring is one of the costliest rings in the world because of its centrepiece, the Oppenheimer Blue Diamond. The Oppenheimer Blue Diamond is a rectangular fancy blue diamond with extraordinary symmetry. Once owned by Sir Philip Oppenheimer and originally weighed 14.71 carats. It was mounted on a Verdura Eight Blades mounting. After Sir Philip Oppenheimer's death, it was bought by an anonymous buyer, who dismantled the diamond from the setting and had it slightly recut and polished to the present shape. The current Oppenheimer Blue Diamond weighs 14.62 carats.

L’incomparable Diamond Necklace
Known as the Incomparable Diamond Necklace, this phenomenal neckpiece contains the world's largest internally flawless diamond as its centrepiece. The 430 carats diamond is suspended from a rose gold chain. It features an intricate design of leaves and vines, studded with 90 diamonds that weigh around 230 carats. It is said that the diamond that forms the centrepiece of the necklace was accidentally discovered in 1984 by a young girl while playing near a pile for rubble in Congo. The diamond weighed 890 carats, and it took the cutting team a long while to decide on cutting and polishing such an exquisite stone. Finally, the rough diamond was cut into the current L’Incomparable diamond and 14 other polished, profoundly clear diamonds. The L’Incomparable necklace was then designed by a Lebanese jeweller and was completed in 2012.

The Graff Pink Diamond Ring is known for its fetching centrepiece, the Graff Pink Diamond, known as a marvel of nature. .It is said to be one of the most beautiful diamonds ever discovered and falls within the world’s top 1-2% diamonds in terms of purity. It initially weighed 24.78 carats and possessed a saturated pink colour that was rare for a diamond. The Diamond existed for a long time without being named and was later bought by Laurence Graff. Graff engaged a team of expert cutters and had it refined to 23.88 carats.

Hutton-mdivani Jadeite Necklace
Hutton Mdivani jadeite Necklace is a legendary necklace that once belonged to the famous Barbara Hutton, who was one of the most iconic jewellery collectors of all times. The necklace contains 27 enormous emerald-coloured jadeite beads secured together with a ruby, platinum, diamond and gold clasp. The beads measure between 15.4 mm to 19.2 mm and are said to be some of the finest jadeite beads in the world. They have striking proportions and are said to possess an extraordinary green saturation.

The Chopard 201 Carat Watch
The Chopard watch is a mind-blowing creation that contains 874 high-grade diamonds of different colours and various shapes studded on it in a mesmerising blend of colours, dazzle and shades. Towards the centre, it features an internally flawless heart-shaped pink diamond weighing 15.37 carats, a perfect heart-shaped blue diamond weighing 12.79 carats and a D-colored heart-shaped diamond weighing 11.36 carats. It is designed with a spring-loaded mechanism, and when pressed, the three heart-shaped diamonds open like the petals of a flower, revealing the watch face that has three pear-shaped yellow diamonds.
